Each semester, the School of International Education of HNU organizes language-teaching classes at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels. Students are to be placed in classes that suit them best by taking a proficiency test. A class is usually composed of 15-20 students. The spring semester usually starts from late February and the autumn semester from early or middle September. A semester usually consists of 18 weeks with 20 class hours of language courses per week. Electives are offered for students to choose from one to three courses according to the students’ interest and Chinese capacity. Field trips are arranged once each semester.

Applicants must be above the age of 18, in good physical and psychological condition.

Application documents required
- HNU Application Form for Chinese Language Study;
- A photocopy of passport and a recent photo (white background, 35mmx45mm in size)
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Scanned copy );
- Bank remittance receipt of the application fee: RMB400 Yuan or USD 80;
- Performance at original school (for students already studying in China);
Enrollment
- Applicants could submit,via online application, email or mail, application materials to the School of International Education, Hangzhou Normal University (HNU).
- After HNU receives the application documents and bank transfer receipt of application fees, the Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form) will be granted.
- Within 10 days after receiving your application, we will send you Admission Letter and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form).
- Admitted students are required to apply for Study Entry (X1) Visa (the study period is more than six months) or Study Entry (X2) Visa (the study period is six months or less) with an ordinary passport, Admission Letter and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form)to the Chinese embassies or consulate.
Fees
- Application Fee: RMB400 Yuan or USD80
- Tuition Fees:
Short-term Chinese Language Program(for one week): RMB 600 Yuan/weeks;
Long-term Chinese Language Program: RMB 6600 Yuan/semester or 13,200 Yuan/year.
- Books and Learning Materials: RMB300 pre-paid.
- Insurance: RMB150/Semester. Hangzhou Normal University offers comprehensive insurance including accident injury medical treatment, hospitalization medical treatment, disability and loss of life for each student who studies more than one-half year at the university.
- Accommodation: Single Room RMB35/day, including water bill and internet bill. Electricity bills should be paid by the student themselves. Each room contains a bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, bookshelf, TV, refrigerator, air conditioner,shower. And public laundry and public kitchen is available for students.
