Long-term Chinese Language Program

(for International Students)

Description of the Program

The School of International Education of Hangzhou Normal University offers primary, intermediate and advanced language classes each semester. The Spring semester usually begins in late February and the Fall semester usually begins in early or mid September.

The school provides 16 teaching weeks and 20 hours of language courses per week. The school also offers a range of elective courses in language and culture to enable students to choose one to three courses according to their interests and Chinese proficiency. A series of teaching practice activities is also arranged each semester.

Core Courses

Required Courses: Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Chinese Character Writing, Listening and Spoken Chinese, Chinese Reading and Writing, Chinese Visual Listening and Speaking, etc. ;

Elective Courses: Chinese Proficiency Examination (HSK) Tutoring, Sound Correction and Recitation, Business Chinese, Chinese Culture, Chinese Paper-cutting, Chinese Kungfu, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Traditional Painting, Chinese Folk Songs, Hand-made, etc.

Spring Semester:From October to January

Autumn Semester:From March to July

Qualifications for Application

1. Applicants must be foreign citizens with valid foreign passports;
2. Applicants are from 18 to 55 (inclusive) years old ;
3. Applicants must be in good physical and psychological condition and shall abide by the provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Entry and Exit;
4. Applicants shall abide by Chinese laws, regulations, school discipline and school regulations, respect Chinese social morality and customs;
5. Applicants are required to have high school degree or above.

Procedures for Application

1. Log in http://hznu.at0086.cn/student (Google Chrome and 360 Browser is recommended);
2. Create a new account;
3. Log in the system;
4. Fill in the information and upload clear documents as instructed;
5. Save and submit the application;
6. Wait for review and check the application status in the application system. Meanwhile, please refer to the ‘Inbox’ of the system and your personal email account to get updated of the application status. The admission process normally takes 10 to 15 workdays.

Documents Required for Application

1. Application Form for Chinese Language Program (automatically generated );
2. Valid passport page (valid for more than 6 months);
3. Health Certificate - Foreign Physical Examination Report;
4. Recent 2-inch photo (Photo format: color 2-inch bareheaded photo, white background without border, head takes up 2/3 of the photo size, photo size is not less than 320*240 pixels, aspect ratio is 4:3, size is 100-500kb, JPG format);
5. Notarized highest education certificate and academic transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translated English or Chinese version;
6. Proof of non-criminal record;
7. Certificate of funds guarantee issued by bank or certificate of guarantee issued by economic guarantor;
8. Receipt of application fee of 400 RMB or 80 USD.
